Our University adopted a project to encourage students and staff to visit Elderly care homes, orphanages and children's cancer hospital  and give hand psychologically to them.


 

 

University of Basrah organizes an inspection visit to the Aging care home


The College of Science at the University of Basra organized an inspection visit to the Social Welfare Home (the home for the elderly) by a group of female teachers and students of the Department of Life Sciences. The visit aims to alleviate the suffering of this segment by listening to their problems and trying to find solutions to them, and instilling a spirit of goodness and cooperation among all segments of society. The visit included providing moral and material support to them by organizing entertainment sessions, distributing a set of cultural books, and getting acquainted with their most important needs.

A visit to the Children's Cancer Specialist Hospital


 The Civil Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah visited the Children's Cancer Specialist Hospital. Where an official delegation was formed from the department, including a group of teachers and students, after material donations were collected for the purpose of presenting to them. The amount of donations reached nearly 3 million Iraqi dinars, which were distributed to children and their families to reduce the heavy burden on their shoulders. The purpose of the visit is to see the conditions of children with cancer, stand by them, raise their spirits and draw a smile on their faces The visit also included the presence of one of the department's students dressed as a clown to sow joy in the hearts of the children. For its part, the doctors and hospital staff welcomed this humanitarian initiative.

A visit to the nursing home for the activation of the initiative of parents and awareness of COVID-19 disease


A delegation from the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Anwar Ahl al-Bayt Foundation, peace be upon them, visited a nursing home in Basra affiliated with the Department of Social Services, within the framework of the initiative to honor parents and raise awareness against Corona disease. The delegation was headed by Dr. Afkar Fadel, a member of the faculty at the College of Nursing, and was accompanied by Professor Alaa Al-Rikabi, President of the Ahl al-Bayt Foundation, peace be upon them, where they learned about the level of services provided to the elderly men and women, and the health and social programs implemented by the Social Services Department, in addition to health and social care services and sessions Elderly physical therapy The delegation inspected the residence of the house and other benefits. At the end of the visit, the school, Afkar Fadel, thanked the people in charge of the house, pointing out that the care available to the house’s inmates is the implementation of a commandment of the prophetic commandments, regarding honoring parents and their respect and appreciation in old age, saying, “They endowed us with tenderness, love and care. Let us grow and learn, and it is our duty to reward them for what they have done by being kind to them and taking care of them, because they are the candles of mercy that illuminate our lives with righteous supplications, so that God Almighty may guide us in this world and the hereafter.

Visiting a nursing home


The Department of Geography went to visit the nursing home for the elderly located in the Association neighborhood, accompanied by Dr. Abdul Amir, head of the extra-curricular activities unit, with a group of students of the first, second, third and fourth stages, where we provided material and moral support and drew a smile on their faces. The visit and we also thank the head of the Department of Geography, Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Wahhab Al-Asadi, and Dr. Rashid Abdul-Rashid

Visiting the National Orphanage for Orphan Care


The College of Education for Girls at the University of Basra organized a visit to the National Orphanage to take care of orphans within the program of the Reda Project. The visit aimed to know the conditions of orphans and see the services provided to them, as well as moral and material support. The visit included a meeting with the director of the home, who explained how orphans receive their education and educational lessons in government schools on a regular basis. She added that some of them who reached the age of majority took their lives and established families after their marriage. At the end of the visit, Dr. Alaa Abdul-Imam Al-Riyahi, the assistant dean for scientific affairs, and Dr. Muhammad Talib Al-Asadi, the assistant dean for administrative affairs, distributed gifts to the orphans, as well as a sum of money in support of the home.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Visiting a nursing home


The Center for Educational Guidance and Psychological Care at the University of Basra organized a visit to the nursing home for the elderly, with the participation of a group of the center's staff. The visit aims to inspect the conditions of the home’s elderly and the necessary needs, in preparation for carrying out successive visits to meet those needs through donation campaigns organized in the immediate future, as well as providing moral and psychological support to the home’s inmates. The visit included gifts for the elderly and some basic daily needs.

Visiting a nursing home


The delegation of the  Alzahraa  College of Medicine  / University of Basra visited the elderly care home and looked at the needs of the home and  donated a set of electrical appliances, cleaning and sterilization materials, and some foodstuffs
