The University of Basrah pays great attention to the community of people with special needs, whether they are from its affiliates, students or visitors, and this is clearly appeared by providing basic facilities for public and personal uses.

The University gives considerable attention to the maternity care.



All government departments in Iraq, including the University of Basrah, adopt the Civil Service Law No. (24) of 1960 in Article (43) Paragraph (6), which guarantees to provide  leaves to the employee or teaching staff which include after birth and antenatal until the end of child care at the end of the first year. After the end of the first year, mothers return to their work within the University of Basrah, thereby the university provides nurseries for children in most of the university's faculties. With the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, all nurseries at the university stopped working according to the decisions of the crisis cell in Iraq.  At the beginning of the 2021/22 school year, all nurseries went back to work with the observation of health rules, standards, and obligations relating to the Covid-19.
