The University of Basrah has 6 student organizations related to sustainability.
1- Engineering is Our Home
Since 2010, the College of Engineering students has organized a volunteer campaign entitled "Engineering is Our Home”. The goal of the campaign is to repair and maintain some infrastructures devices, components, and gardens to increase the glamor and beauty of the college. They also have activities regarding the elimination of Waste.

2- Covid-19 Masks producing workshop
A voluntary group of teachers, students, employees take the responsibility for the manufacture of Covid-19 masks to be distributed free of charge to citizens.
3- The Medical Group
periodically distributes medical devices to the hospital of Basrah province such as blood pressure devices, Blood sugar devices, Masks, etc.
4- The House of Expertise for Development and Creativity.
This unit takes the responsibility for providing several energy-efficient devices and producing the devices against Covid-19 such as respiratory devices and Disinfection stands.
5- Community Service Unit
- periodically visiting elderly homes and orphans to help them with different things such as food, equipment, and enhance their health.
6- Conscious Ear
This Unit aims to provide health awareness to the community of Basrah province in order to reduce the increase of disease and the population of infected people.
7- University of Basrah adopts its own policy in community service
RO Water Station
University of Basrah owns a water desalination plant (R0 water) with a production capacity of 5 tons per hour affiliated to the College of Agriculture near the palm plantation field located near the College of Engineering.
Off-Campus Free Water
As part of community service, University of Basrah regularly provides safe drinking water for some faraway areas in Basrah province.
