The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts / University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Women Empowerment Unit, organized a scientific symposium entitled Political and Social Empowerment of Iraqi Women. The symposium, presented by Prof. Dr. Azhar Ali Yassin, Head of the Arabic Language Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Najat Abdel-Karim, Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Division, and Dr. Mayada Qais Ramadan, Director of the Continuing Education Unit, aims to shed light on women’s rights from the political and economic point of view and to present these rights from the point of view of the legislative law. The symposium aims to introduce the feminist community at the university, especially female students, to their political and social rights, and how the legal Sharia has preserved these rights. The symposium included several topics, the most important of which was empowering women politically and socially.
The Department of History at the College of Education for Human Sciences at University of Basrah organized a scientific symposium on (Women and their Social Status) with the participation of researchers and specialists. This is the role of women in community development through educating them and highlighting their role and importance in community service to create rising generations. The symposium indicated the importance of informing women of their rights according to Iraqi law, identifying the obstacles that impede their empowerment, and the need to educate women about their role for their effective contribution to human development .
Seminar entitled Rejecting Violence against Women Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al Kaabi, the Department of Arabic Language holds a symposium entitled (Renouncing Violence against Women).
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, the esteemed and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kinani, the Continuing Education Unit is holding a symposium entitled Combating Violence against Women in the Continuing Education Unit Hall on 11-25-2021 at ten in the morning.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Dr. Saad Shaheen, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Salma Abdel-Baqi Mahmoud, the respected Department of Computer Science, in cooperation with the Basra Women’s Team, organized an awareness seminar to combat violence against women on Monday 17/1-2022 in the college building. During the lectures in which I gave a discussion of the causes and methods of violence against women and its types and how to advance the reality of society to levels of sophistication in the civilized treatment of women among the different groups of society.
The College of Medicine, University of Basrah, under the auspices of the President of Basra University, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the Director General of the Basrah Health Department, and in cooperation with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Basra Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology, organized a scientific symposium on the Scientific Day of Obstetrics and Gynecology on Thursday 17/12/2020. The symposium aims to present what is new in obstetrics and gynecology and to exchange information. The symposium included giving scientific lectures with a scientific discussion.
