The University of Basrah is characterized by containing several faculties of medical group colleges along with many health centers.
Medical Group
The group of medical colleges in the university includes the Collge of Medicine which adopts the annual educational system, Al-Zahra College of Medicine, which adopts the integrative educational system, College of Dentistry, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Veterinary Medicine, and College of Science which includes Analytics Department, Chemistry Department, and Life Sciences Department.
Medical Consultation Center
The Medical Consultation Center, which is located on Al-Baradi’yah Campus / College of Medicine, provides a low price health services such as diagnosis and surgery under the management of specialists from the faculty of medicine for all citizens of Basrah governorate. The center also makes discounts for all university employees, teachers, administrators, and students.
Dentistry Clinics
The University of Basrah has several dentistry clinics on all campuses, especially in the dentistry campus that is located in Al-Sadr Teaching Hospital. Under the supervision of specialists from the dentistry college, those clinics are utilized to train the students of faculty. At the same time, they provide specialized health services to the citizens and university members at subsidized prices.
Psychiatric Clinic
A psychiatric clinic has been established at Al-Zahra College of Medicine for providing medical consultations through the counseling and psychological clinics which help the general community and the students who suffer from psychological problems to achieve the appropriate psychological and social adjustment.
Emergency
The health center, located in Karmat Ali campus, provides free of charge health services to students and employees. Additionally, this center contains an emergency room and an ambulance for processing critical medical cases that require more specialized intervention.
Standardized Procedures
In addition to health centers, the university provides standardized health procedures by the deployment of pharmacies containing the most important medicines and disinfectants in all university buildings, which are utilized for primary treatment until diagnosis by a specialized doctor.
