In all examinations in the University, the colleges provide free drinking water to those pupils in examination room.

- Due to the paramount importance of water in Basra Governorate and its constant exposure to the salt tide coming from the sea, the University of Basrah has added water care and consumption rationalization curricula to its curricula and suggested adding it to schools curricula as well.

- In 2018, there was a water salinity crisis in Basrah province. The University of Basrah provided thousands of drinking water bottles in addition to its treatment stations for the community in Basrah.
- In line with the University's policy to provide safe drinking water, three patents were recorded for this purpose during 2018-2019.
During 2018, the salinity of drinking water source in Basrah was increased. The University of Basrah As part of its community service policy, it distributed thousands of packages of drinking water to all regions of the province
