The University of Basra launches an afforestation campaign to preserve the environment and confront climate change

The Department of Diwan Affairs at the University of Basra launched a wide afforestation campaign in the college complex (Karma Ali) to preserve the environment and confront climate change.

The president of the university, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem, said

In implementation of the National Afforestation Initiative launched by the Prime Minister

Engineer Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, a major afforestation campaign was carried out in the college complex (Karma Ali) to cultivate more than (1000)

A seedling of various trees, including (Al-Bizia, Maryam's palm, acacia).

He added that the campaign was launched by the university under the slogan

(For a green Iraq and a beautiful Basra)

It started on Monday 14/10/2024

It lasts for three days to increase green space

Increasing the number of perennial trees as a key factor in moisturising the atmosphere will also contribute to strengthening the green belt and reducing temperatures.

Stressing that the afforestation campaigns are a message sent by the university

Basra will return to the land of blackness as it was previously known.
