University of Basrah Evaluates the Water Situation in Umm Qasr District

With voluntary efforts, the consultative team of the University of Basrah and staff from the Water Directorate, the Iraqi Ports Company and the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, and under the supervision of the local administration of the district, worked to evaluate the work of desalination plants, including (Al-Ghadir Desalination Plant) for the purpose of raising its production capacity and contributing to increasing the quantities of water supplied to the district and alleviating the suffering experienced by the people of that city from the deteriorating water situation.

The university also worked earlier to highlight the water situation in the southwestern regions of the governorate by holding expanded meetings for the relevant authorities and coordinating with them for the purpose of finding effective strategic solutions to advance this situation in the service of our dear governorate.
